With the holiday season in full swing, everyone is in the mood for fun holiday festivities. To get your employees into the holiday spirit, you can utilize various intranet features! Below are just a few ways you can leverage the power of your intranet to build excitement over the holiday season, and improve overall intranet adoption.
A surefire way to get employees excited about the holiday season, as well as show some employee appreciation, is to host various holiday related events, such as a staff dinner. Here at Intranet Connections, we recently hosted a staff dinner as well as a snowshoeing event.
To build excitement for these events, we used the Events Calendar and fed the upcoming events to our storyboard. Promoting upcoming holiday events on your intranet is a great way to communicate event information, build excitement, boost morale and get employees into the holiday spirit. In addition, posting event details on your intranet will save you time in having to email out all event information, such as dates, times, location, etc.
To recap on the fun holiday events (and share a good laugh), you can utilize Photo Albums to upload all photos taken at the various staff parties to your intranet. This is a great way to share memories, boost engagement and improve intranet adoption, as everyone will want to log on to your intranet to see what funny moment was captured.
You can set up different photo albums for each event, or create one big album called “Staff Events” and have everyone drop their photos there. From there, to ensure everyone sees the photos, you can feed the album directly to your home page.
Another great way to build excitement about the holiday season is with blogging. Whether it be to share holiday event information, post upcoming office closures due to the holiday or share the status on year-end company goals, blogging is a great way to keep employees in the loop.
On our own intranet here at Intranet Connections, our CEO, Rob Nikkel, often posts a new blog every time there is a holiday, such as Thanksgiving or Christmas, each time we accomplish a goal and at the end of every quarter. The blog is published right to the home page so it’s one of the first things we see when we log on. This not only builds excitement about current happenings at the office, but it also boosts engagement and improves adoption.
These suggestions are great to try on your intranet over the holiday season to build excitement and have fun in the office. Which tools are you implementing on your intranet this holiday season to create buzz? Let us know by commenting below.
