The healthcare industry has a specific set of needs when it comes to employee management, and although our out-of-the-box healthcare intranet solution covers the necessities, we provide opportunities to apply creative touches to best suit your needs!
We’ve worked closely with our Healthcare clients to build the best intranet possible, and for this month’s webinar, we partnered with Homewood Health to bring you some creative intranet tips that helped them establish the unique and engaging intranet they have today!
For many healthcare organizations their intranet’s open a line of communication between head office and staff working in the clinics and hospitals. We are going to cover some key areas in which an intranet can be adopted to ensure both requirements are met (internally by employees and externally by government guidelines) and that they are applied in a way that encourages engagement. The 4 areas of focus are:
Yes they will. Getting creative is key for any intranet’s success. When you make your intranet work specifically for your needs, and the needs of all your employees, you’ll have an engaged and productive workforce. The ideas we discuss with Homewood Health are simply used to inspire creativity for your intranet, be it; Finance, Corporate or Healthcare.
There are a lot of expectations that the healthcare industry has to meet to ensure patients are looked after, staff are happy, and protocols are easily taught and followed. Adopting an intranet streamlines these area’s in a secure, all-in-one, information station.
Elizabeth George, Marketing Manager at Intranet Connections, teams up with Homewood Health, to inspire creative applications for your healthcare intranet. Homewood Health has helped improve the lives of thousands of people for over 120 years. Below are a few of the unique applications that Homewood Health created for their Healthcare Intranet:
Homewood Health creatively adapted the Vacation Request form to best suit the healthcare industry needs when it comes to staff management. Not only do Vacation Requests need to go through a proper approval process, but so do overtime or absent requests. Now, with one simple form, staff can select their purpose of request and it will be sent for approval. Streamlining these requests into one form saves time in an industry where time is of the essence.
Every industry struggles with determining which news is important for which staff, and the healthcare industry is no different. Homewood Health turned a Team/Department site into the hub of everything news. They broke down news feeds into 3 sections; Company News which covers information for everyone (say goodbye to ‘all-staff’ emails), Clinic News which provides important updates for staff working in all the clinics across the country and finally People News that highlight upcoming anniversaries, jobs well done and more. To ensure this information is found, they included easy navigation and a live feed on their Intranet Home Page that pulls news from all 3 feeds so employees can get up-to-date at any time.
Whether you’re working in the clinic, hospital or head office, you need your own dedicated space for go-to resources. Since each department has a different set of needs, and quickly finding the right resources is essential, Homewood Health created custom spaces based on the needs of the end-user. From an HR site that contains all the forms, training, and news that employees need to a Clinic site that houses all the policies and procedures necessary to effectively care for a patient, Team/Department sites are an organizational dream.
Onboarding and training is a challenge for almost any industry and figuring out ways to streamline, and create, engaging materials is top-of-mind for many. The healthcare industry needed to find the balance between written and visual training materials so Homewood Health created a video training library that assists in the onboarding and training process. Not only do video’s capture the attention of employees but they can be created and catalogued quickly and easily!
